It’s not Christmas yet, but we take the paper off of Wrapped Apps
Mar 17, 2006 - Tier1 Research − T1R had the opportunity to talk to Wrapped Apps, a privately held, Ontario Canada based firm that helps ISV move to SaaS. We ran across the company at a recent SaaS summit sponsored by OpSource (a Wrapped Apps partner).
Wrapped Apps takes an application and wraps it in a Java based API and using a virtual technology, turns a single tenant app into a virtual multi tenant app. Wrapped Apps handles the provisioning, automation and virtualization of the clients application without changing the code or interface. Wrapped Apps claims that in 30 days and for $30K - $50k it can get your app delivered in a SaaS model. It is quite compelling to a small ISV to make the move to SaaS without the need to re-architect the app for Internet delivery (similar to Accelerance). T1R would suggest this solution is “emulated SaaS,” and while not a true homegrown SaaS application, it is a cost effective way for a company to make the jump to SaaS. Wrapped has 4-5 clients and a revenue run rate of less than $1mn right now but it expects revenue growth north of 300% in 2006. Besides the $30 to $50K charge, Wrapped has a success based pricing model where it shares in the success of its clients.
