Content On-Demand
Learn MoreWe are living in a new era of information delivery expectations. Content providers are continually seeking ways to provide customers with the content they want, when they want it. Music is now delivered On-Demand from Apple’s iTunes and others, books and more are available at Amazon, and services like Netflix dispatch movies to the customer’s door or computer.
Content On-Demand takes many forms:
- streaming audio and video
Business Models
The market has already validated a wide range of business models. User-generated content like YouTube is generally free and supported by advertising, while content provided by distributors and aggregators is often subscription or pay-per-use.
The Market
Content On-Demand is part of a growing trend, where applications and content are offered on-demand over the Internet. Check out our Solutions section for other uses of the Wrapped Apps™ Service Delivery Platform ( SDP).
While we are extremely excited about Content On-Demand at Wrapped Apps™ Corporation, don’t just take our word for it:
- A Peppercoin report (with sources from Forrester and IDC) forecasts digital content revenues at $ 15.1 billion in 2008; which includes publishing, mobile ring-tones, mobile “infotainment,” games, and music.
- According to IDC, the huge rise of MP3 music files in recent years is only the first wave in the online entertainment assault. Managing Director Vito Mabrucco recently told a panel discussion that video is next, and its ascent will mimic the establishment of MP3s. "You now have a massive marketplace” said Mabrucco. “People want their media and their entertainment when they want it."
